What is Montgomery Holistic Nutrition?

You have seen my posts with recipes and my offerings for meal planning services, but what is Montgomery Holistic Nutrition

First, let me start with what Montgomery Holistic Nutrition is NOT: it is not a rapid way to weight loss, following a particular diet plan, counting macro and micronutrients, weighing yourself daily, and thinking about every little thing you put into your body. I love to eat. I love the community food builds when you sit down at the table with family and friends. I don’t want to be or want my clients enslaved to thinking about their weight or shaming themselves for another diet failed.

So, what IS Montgomery Holistic Nutrition? It is an anti-diet approach to feeling your very best. It is learning to eat intuitively, trusting your body to tell you what foods fuel your body best and make you feel great. It is an approach to changing your relationship with food, so your focus isn’t always on weight loss, leading to binge eating because you get to the point of desperation in your diet or truly starving yourself so the scale will move. You can trust yourself to sit down and eat and have community with friends and family, knowing you can listen to your body to tell you when you are full. 

I often hear people say they use food as a reward, or when they have had a bad day, that’s when they go for the chocolate or junk food. I’m here to help you enjoy those foods responsibly and help you work through the reasons you eat emotionally. Once you change your relationship with food, you will experience peace and joy in your eating and well-being.

No doubt, eating healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, and seeds, will best fuel your body. I feel my best when I eat those foods. I feel that nutrition plays such an important role in the prevention and reversal of disease. But this doesn’t mean that stepping out of that “clean eating” box at times means you failed. You must first love your body, just the way it is. Then, as you listen to your body, become a detective as you eat, see and feel how certain foods make you feel. You will be motivated to eat the foods you feel will fuel you best to feel your best.
